 Ken Lane will be inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame

(News Release from Canadian Canoe Association January 23, 2003)

The Canadian Canoe Association is delighted to announce that Ken Lane of Scarborough, Ontario will be inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame.  The ceremony will take place at the induction dinner to be held in Vancouver on April 25th., 2003.  Since his youth, Ken has been a passionate and committed member of the Association.  As an athlete he was an Olympic silver medallist in the canoe tandem 10,000m event in Helsinki (1952).  As a sport official, he has officiated at over 30 Canadian Championships and at international competitions.  As an administrator, he was Commodore of the Canadian Canoe Association in 1960 and held many executive positions of the CCA for many years.  In 1972 he was the manager of the Olympic canoe-kayak team.  Ken remains active in the sport at the famous Balmy Beach Canoe Club in Toronto.  Ken chose to make paddling a big part of his life.  The Association is grateful for his life long contribution.  Congratulations, Ken and thank-you.
