June 3 2006 - Canoe the Nonquon Race

The Scugog Shores Museum is holding the 38th annual Canoe the Nonquon race on Saturday, June 3rd.  The race is sanctioned by OMCRA and is open to both canoeists and kayakers.  It is the longest running race of it's kind in Ontario.  This race has something for everyone.  It is a 16 mile trip which starts on an 11 mile section of the Nonquon River, winding through lush green marsh, and ends with a five mile sprint along the shoreline of Lake Scugog to Port Perry.  Amateur and professional, young and old, may choose to travel just the river portion, or the river and the lake, finishing at the Port Perry waterfront.
